MY ETSY SHOP

Immovable

I originally created this drawing for the Illustration prompt " Heavy" a couple of years ago. When I used it for that word I was thinking about supporting others or being supported in times of trouble.. Strangely now that I am using it to illustrate the word "immovable" which has completely different connotations, suddenly the head looks almost too heavy to hold, the expression on his face seems stubborn and almost malevolent... The supporting person looks exhausted rather than strong...

funny how one word can change our perception...

The word for this weeks Illustration Friday was "Slither" so here is my interpretation of the word... unfortunately it is not quite finished but I will post again when it is done...

May Dew

The Dew Collector

When I saw the word "Early" for this weeks illustration Friday I kept thinking of this little drawing so here he is once again!

In Britain there is an old wives tale that says that the May dew has magical properties and that any one that washes their face in it will have a beautiful complexion all year round. So early in the morning on the 1st of May young girls would rush out into their gardens to collect the morning Dew. I think that they would have found this little fellow very helpful...

Sugar Nellie

I just thought I would share the news with you that I have been working on some stamp designs for Sugar Nellie.

I am really happy to be joining their team, I love the work of their other illustrators, some of whom I have known through the blogosphere for quite some time; Diane Duda, Mary Hall and Leanne Ellis are some of their artists whose work I admire very much.

I have created 6 stamp designs based on some of my colour pencil drawings, I cannot divulge which ones they are just yet.... but as soon as they are released I will let you know! :)

When I saw the word for this weeks Illustration Friday, I instantly thought about this drawing which has been hiding away in one of my sketchbooks for a long, long time... you don't get much more fearless than this little girl!!

I have been a little busy lately and unfortunately have not been able to participate in Illustration Friday. When I saw the word for this week I kept thinking of the phrase " Get ahead, get a hat!" and this little lady in her Mummy's big hat kept popping into my mind. I couldn't resist making a quick sketch of her... :)

The drawing I made for "propagate" for IF a couple of weeks ago has been used as an illustration for an article on http://www.illustrationpages.com/ . Illustration Pages is a site that highlights the facebook pages and online stores of visual artists from around the globe.

The article is about people that quietly persist through adversity despite perhaps not being nurtured in an ideal environment. I was really happy to be asked to contribute.. :)

Adrift..

I drew this picture for my friend Renee's birthday last year, when I saw the word "adrift" this week I instantly thought of it... Renee is very ill at the moment, she is a wonderful, inspirational woman and I am reposting this illustration as a tribute to her courage and strength....
