Illustration Friday - Clutter

I decided this week after looking at other blogs that I would show a little of my drawing process. So above is my initial sketch for clutter..
I then scanned the image into photoshop and played around a little to make colour decisions. I often do this as it helps me to perceive the final image..

and so begins the long process of colouring..

and many hours later.... the finished illustration!!

Hi Kathy,
This is a beautiful drawing. Thanks for showing us how you work. I love how your clutter is mostly the tan boxes with the little bits of color placed here and there to help the eye move around the composition. Also I like the atmospheric lighting. It's a very happy cluttered place.

Thanks so much for sharing the process... I always love getting a looksy into artists techniques and styles. It's like being able to peak over your shoulder a bit... without the aggrevation of having someone looking over your shoulder.
Great piece!!!

Wow Kathy! That is magical! And so like a child to be able to 'perform' anywhere, even amongst all the clutter. Magical! I agree with a previous comment, this looks like it would make the most beautiful childrens story...where can I buy it? All the best...Angela, Brisbane Australia
